Present theaters of operation require well-enhanced abrasion and corrosion resistance, to handle ingestion of sand or dust, as well as the marine or industrially polluted environments. This is particularly important for helicopters, to ensure operational readiness and functional reliability.

Coating engine bearings ensures far longer service life, reduced friction and heating, increased service periods between field and depot maintenance operations.

Coated compressor blades and vanes will last longer against abrasion, corrosion and fatigue. Modern designs with full rotor disks can be coated also, while maintaining the sharp frontal edges imposed by aerodynamics without any machining after coating.

Turbine parts have the most difficult requirements, at continuously increasing temperatures. The current capabilities and potential of SSC coatings in this field are unsurpassed by any other process and future developments will enhance the real-life performance of these parts.
